Brighten the Brain works toward the following outcomes -
To co-create:
Long term, sustainable, and systematic change in how we provide support services for children that have experienced trauma so that they are able to successfully bond with their foster and adoptive families.
Neurological change for children and parents who have experienced trauma, secondary trauma and/or severe attachment breaks.
Trained biological, foster and adoptive families who are able to support this neurological healing process by healing their own compassion fatigue first and then holding a brain based healing environment for the children they love and serve
Trained clinicians and treatment systems to have an increased capacity to work effectively with traumatized children and families.
Support, Train and Certify other agencies that want to become more effective in working with the populations they are passionate about.
Children that do not bond to a family struggle
with all future relationships.
A child who is given the opportunity to belong
develops trust, self-esteem, empathy, and the ability to
function as a productive member of the community.
Brighten the Brain has significantly reduced placement disruptions in foster and adoptive children with challenging behavioral issues.
We are social creatures, by definition children do not survive or thrive if they do not have a tribe, a family support system from which to grow from. For those children that are unable to grow up and develop in a birth family, it is paramount that we as a society wrap around them to provide the tools and resources necessary to create a healthy community. Children who do not attach continue to hurt others and themselves. They grow up to be one of the biggest expenses both emotionally and financially for our communities to address.
Brighten the Brain supports, is grateful for, and values families willing to love and care for the children without
homes. We provide partial scholarships that are often matched by grant funding. Please consider joining us
